The temperature here in Southern California has been steeply on the rise. To escape the stifling heat of the indoors, I enjoy wandering with my puppy into the shaded hills behind our house. The residential streets are narrow and crooked, while the final destination is unknown. It is a satisfying journey simply to stumble along and see where we end up.
I keep coming across little treasures that are easy to be grateful for. A beautiful home with creative architecture, a window into a secret garden, a flower perfectly in bloom, a tree that aches to have a treehouse in it, a boring sign made interesting by festooning it in greenery.
