Introducing the New Balance newSKY

I am not the biggest fan of sneakers – but I might rethink my negative stance on athletic kicks after seeing New Balance’s newSKY.

The minimalist uppers are made entirely from recycled plastic bottles (approximately eight 20 oz. bottles in each shoe) and the thin sole is designed to mimic the feel of being barefoot. Most appealing though is that you can shrink your carbon footprint while also avoiding looking like a typical American tourist with big white sneakers. THAT level of faux pas is simply unthinkable.

The shoes aren’t available until the end of October, but you can check out how the designers re-envisioned a product with a feel-good-fashion sense here.
